Specter: Town Hall Meetings Are ‘Not Really Representative Of America’Share
Today at 11:20am
Democratic Senator Arlen Specter said in an interview on “This Week” that he supports Americans right to organize, but warned that recent town hall ruckus from critics of the Democrats' health care proposals are not representative of the public's view on the issue.

Alan Eason:
To the contrary - what I have seen on the clips reminds me very much of small town hall meetings - school board fusses and even bus council meetings. Perhaps some of Washington and much of the elite have lost touch of how small town America operates - and thus lost touch with the concept of limited large government. Many countries have no government at the local level - it is all pressed down from above. It is a genius of the American system - indeed it sparked the American revolution.
Postscript - you could add the abolition of slavery, the bill of rights and a few others to that list. They were all hashed out in similar, LOUD fashion with small, local meetings providing the roots.
